A Place of Light and Stillness

A lot going on around me just now. A lot of situations which need resolving.
I put down, dustpan and brush, settle down on an empty bench, in an empty church.

Sunlight streams through the windows, the movement of tall trees outside reflected on the walls makes the light dance and it is easy to drop into stillness …. thoughts stop buzzing, and all is at rest.

Nothing is needful, nothing is lacking.

‘Be Still and Know that I am God’

God’s children have such expectations, of their gatherings, they want such a lot, this hymn, that hymn – this should be done this way, that shouldn’t be done at all…

Yet all, all that is needful is given in stillness. And the Word who is our light fills our silence.

“The Lord your God is in your midst,
A mighty one who will save;
he will quiet you by His love;
He will exult over you with loud singing”
Zephaniah 3:17

In our silence, God sings!
